What moms eat for lunch...

Today is the first day of school. Bailey is in fifth grade and Isaac is in second. Next year Reagan will be in Kindergarten and a four short years from now, my youngest will be starting school. I am ten and a half years into this whole motherhood thing. It's who I am. It's what I do. Four years away from having all my kids in school just doesn't seem like that long...cuz I'm old and the years go by in a flash!!! So, as I eat lunch with my two little ones, it has me thinking "What will I eat for lunch?" These days, as it has been for the last nine years or so, my lunch consists of the standard kid things... pb&js, chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, ramen noodles, hot dogs and hopefully I can sneak in some fruit and maybe some cottage cheese.. you know kid stuff. So now I'm just wondering what do moms eat for lunch that don't have kids home to feed? Will I figure out how to make enough dinner to have just enough for a left over lunch for my self? Will I figure out how to make dinner at all for that matter? Will I still eat kid stuff because it's easy and it's a habit? I sure hope not! Maybe I will have so much free time that I will be at the mall or the latest boutique that I will grab lunch on the run. Not likely, but that would be fun! maybe I'll work or go to school outside of the home. Right now, I kind of am anxious to have them all in school, but I know that when the time comes, I will miss them. Even right now, I am counting down the last hour until the bell rings. I hope they had a good day. I hope they ate their home lunch. I hope they know I love them... they are my life. Good thing I still have four more years until Gracie goes!!!

I hate thinking of what to have for lunch...luckily Katelee chooses for me most days. I have NO IDEA what I will eat for lunch when there aren't any kids around at lunchtime... What did I eat before Katelee? I can't remember...

Hope the first day of school was AMAZING for Bailey and Isaac!

I always wonder what my kids will do when it's time for them to eat lunch at school. I'm pretty sure they'll be trading and the piece of fruit will always come home!

Just go join the kids at school! You can buy your own lunch their. Besides, your kids will love it....for a day or two. Then your back to the same old. Good luck!

i love this post jui. It is going by fast isn't it?! the other day austin and ellie started back to school and it was just Katie and me. I made myself a pb and j and watched spngebob for 15 min before i realized what i had done and that i had other options before me...now I make myself a salad and watch days of our lives during my lunch break! :) and go up to school once a week for lunch with one of the kids.

Speaking of lunches, I hear that Reagan broke into the "school-lunch" food and shared with some friends. My kids came in and told me that she gave them some yummy snacks and that she got in trouble because they were for Isaac's lunches. I felt so bad! Lunch stuff is not cheap! Sorry about that. :)

p.s. maybe we'll all have to get together and have a neighborhood-mom lunch when all the kids are in school. that would be so fun!

I know this is an older post, but I just wanted to tell you that I've been out of the "eating lunch with my kids" mode for a REALLY long time and I still have pb&j for lunch. Sigh....
